Thailand Offers Free Health Insurance for Tourists to Enhance Travel Safety
2/18/2024 11:29:51 PM admin Thailand, February 15 - Starting from January to August 2024, Thailand is providing free health insurance worth 50 million baht to assist international tourists in case of accidents during their visit. The insurance covers a maximum of 1 million baht for fatalities, 500,000 baht for accident-related injury treatment, and 300,000 baht for permanent disabilities.
Sudawan Wangsupakijkosol, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, stated that this financial support aims to boost tourists' confidence and is part of a collective effort to ensure travel safety in Thailand.
To register, tourists need a valid passport and must arrive in Thailand between January 1 and August 31, either on a tourist visa or for pure leisure purposes. They can pre-register through the online "Thailand Traveller's Safety" (TTS) system.
In addition to insurance, Tourist Police are implementing new measures and technologies to maximize safety for tourists, including strict crackdowns on scams, fraud, and rigorous law enforcement. These initiatives are crucial steps to enhance the trust of tourists visiting Thailand, according to Lieutenant General Saksira Pheuk-um.
