2025 remains a milestone year for the community of Vietnamese chefs and globetrotting gourmands with the Michelin Guide Hanoi | Ho Chi Minh City | Da Nang ceremony on Thursday last week. Unveiled at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, the 2025 edition underscores Vietnam’s rising potency as a competitor on the global dining stage.
To quote Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides: “This year, we are proud to witness a rise in the number of Starred restaurants, driven by a new generation of talented chefs. Many are returning to their roots, using modern techniques to tell stories of their hometowns and to revive childhood flavors. At the same time, street food stalls, family-run eateries, and long-standing local shops continue to preserve culinary traditions with authenticity and passion.”
The exciting additions to the Michelin 1 Star list in Saigon include CieL, a sophisticated establishment that reimagines Vietnamese cuisine through French techniques, and Coco Dining, promoted thanks to its unique fermentation flair.
On the eco side we have Lamai Garden, nominated for the team’s green and friendly approach to fine dining, alongside 63 Bib Gourmand restaurants and 109 high-quality eateries recommended by the Michelin guide.
These starred restaurants have embraced the abundance of Vietnam's fertile lands, sourcing their ingredients directly from personal farms and local markets to ensure freshness as an important element in showcasing real Vietnamese flavors. And this is only possible thanks to the rosters of farmers and chefs who contribute to these dining experiences — more and more of them, with Vietnam’s growing generations of young talents.
